Donore Avenue
In 2017 GV8 (trading as BPG3 at the time) was engaged by Como Lake Ltd to assess the daylight sunlight levels associated with a proposed development on Donore Avenue, Dublin 8. The proposed development related principally to the delivery of 6,962 m2 of commercial space which was organised within a four storey office building.
Located in a predominantly residential neighborhood GV8 was tasked with providing a full daylight assessment of all homes in the immediate neighborhood. Further to this GV8 was able to offer defending commentary within the final reports where appropriate. On this project sunlight shortfalls which had been identified using conventional test methods were found. on deeper consideration, to be of little material significance because the loss was predicted to occur at such an early point in the morning.
Key Services Provided Included:
• Vertical Sky Component (VSC) testing to assess loss of skylight access to neighbouring accommodation.
• Annual Probable Sunlight Hours (APSH) testing to assess the loss of sunlight to neighbouring accommodation.
• Sun on Ground (SOG) testing to assess the loss of sunlight to neighbouring recreation spaces.
• Production of supplementary shadow casting imagery.
Dublin City Council granted permission for this development in November 2017.
