One Wilton

One Wilton

In 2016 GV8 (trading as BPG3 at the time) was engaged by IPUT plc to assess the daylight sunlight levels associated with a proposed development on Wilton Terrace, Dublin 2. The proposed development related principally to the delivery of 17,000 m2 of new office space organized over 11 storeys.

As is often the case with development in urban locations a persuasive case needed to be made to justify the height that was being pursued on this site. GV8 worked in close collaboration with HJL and TPA to highlight the wider planning factors which countervailed in this instance. Supplementary testing was also employed to help provide a deeper understanding of the consequence posed for natural light in the immediate neighborhood.

Key Services Provided Included:

• Vertical Sky Component (VSC) testing to assess loss of skylight access to neighbouring accommodation.

• Annual Probable Sunlight Hours (APSH) testing to assess the loss of sunlight to neighbouring accommodation.

• Sun on Ground (SOG) testing to assess the loss of sunlight to neighbouring recreation spaces.

• Production of supplementary shadow casting imagery.

An Bord Pleanála granted permission for this development in October 2016.
